The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) contracted the services of Breta Consulting Corporation to conduct the “Feasibility Study of Metro Manila Subway Project” in cooperation with the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
The Willingness to Pay Survey was conducted in 6 different survey stations in Metro Manila with a total of 1,200 target respondents. This entailed field enumerators to interview randomly selected samples in their assigned survey stations.
Respondents were interviewed on their daily trip information including point of origin, destination and cost. Randomly selected respondents of different transportation modes were interviewed for their perception on existing travel conditions, living conditions and fare situation.
The passenger interview was conducted in a span of 16 hours daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with two 8-hour shifts at each survey station.
