Project BEL – Survey and Mapping of Isabela Province
Mindanao Grains Processing Company, Inc (MGPCI) in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Isabela (PLGU-ISABELA) for the conduct of a province-wide survey and mapping projects as a Public-Private Partnership to ensure the efficiency and responsiveness of farmer/marginalized sector programs in the Province of Isabela.
The project aims to gather and generate the farmer’s profile, minimum basic needs data and geographic information system maps.
To establish and understand the farmer universe and profile in terms of:
a) Farmer demographics
b) Farm size, basic characteristics, faring implements used
c) Far location (farm tagging)
d) Commodities and agriculture-related activities
e) Productivity level
f) Credit facilities being accessed
g) Type of acquisition (inherited, CARP, maintainer etc)
h) Areas of concerns
Mapping of the whole province specifically on the following:
a) Currently utilized
b) Crops planted
c) Arable land availability
Agricultural Infrastructure (i.e. drying facilities)
Retail Stores Network
a) Public markets
b) Commercial stores
c) Sari-sari stores
The survey covered the 35 municipalities and cities of Isabela with a total number of 255,603 structures (household, commercial, industrial and institutional) and approximately 917,000 hectares of agricultural land. Breta trained, deployed and supervised 1,725 field personnel to conduct the province-wide Integrated Survey System (ISS) for Isabela including integration of GPS points.
